Germán Riveria Garcia, a 44-year-old Colombian citizen, is one of nearly two dozen former Colombian soldiers accused in the case.

He is alleged to be the mercenary leader responsible for the hit.

Charges against Riveria include plotting to commit murder or kidnapping outside of America and offering resources and material support.

Meanwhile, Sanon is accused of planning to export illegal information and smuggling products from American soil.

According to court records, he is responsible for sending 20 ballistic vests to Haiti, but the packages were labeled as medical X-ray vests and educational materials.

On February 1, 2023, in Miami, the suspects are expected to appear in federal court.

If found guilty, Sanon could spend up to 20 years behind bars, and Riveria could be sentenced to life in prison.

Aftermath Of The Assassination

Following the murder, Prime Minister Ariel Henry is now acting as president, sworn in on 20 July 2021.

During the first death anniversary of Moise, he announced July 7 as a national holiday in Haiti.

He promised justice and requested Haitians to work together to reconcile.

In the ongoing investigation, dozens of persons, including several Colombian citizens, were detained.

But the procedure has been slow, and there are still many unanswered concerns regarding Moise’s murder.

US authorities claim the case is stalled in Haiti despite death threats that have alarmed local judges.

Gang violence has increased dramatically and has thrown Haiti’s political system into complete disarray.

Furthermore, kidnapping for ransom has also skyrocketed in the country.
