Yunus Nusi was born in Gorontalo, North Sulawesi on January 30, 1970. He has been active in the top Indonesian Football Federation since 2016.
At that time, Yunus was entrusted with the status of Exco member of PSSI. He had been serving as the Acting Task Force or PLT Secretary General of PSSI, succeeding Ratu Tisha who decided to step down on April 13, 2020.
Before joining PSSI, Nusi held key positions at the Indonesian club Persisam Samarinda. From 2009 to 2014, he was the Business Director of a club based in Samarinda.

After being elected to the PSSI 2023 Interim Legislative Assembly (KLB) in Jakarta, Yunus stepped down as PSSI vice president for the 2023-2027 term in just a few minutes.
The election of the Vice President or PSSI Waketum is one of the most complicated elections of PSSI KLB in 2023. This position was repeated once after the voters protested due to the loss of many votes.
In the first election held after Erick Thohir was elected PSSI General Chairman, Zainudin Amali, Yunus Nusi became PSSI waketum after winning 66 and 63 votes respectively.
However, due to strong protests from the voters, the selection committee repeated the election, which was allowed by FIFA representatives.
In the second election, the position of the “winner” changes. Ratu Tisha got the most votes this time, followed by Yunus Nusi and Zainudin Amali.
Ratu Tisha received 54 votes. In the second place, Yunus Nusi managed to get 53 votes. While Zainudin Amali, who was previously elected in the first election, was third with 44 votes.
