Mike Reitzell, President of Ski California, sympathized with the victim and his family.

Reitzell also advised skiers and riders wanting to visit the mountain this weekend to exercise additional caution due to the quantity of snow currently on the ground and more expected in the coming days.

“When it comes to thick snow, you need to make sure you ski and ride with someone,” he said. “It’s critical to pay attention to the person you’re with and avoid going too near trees.

These depressions in the snow are tree wells that you cannot see. It might be tough to get out if you fall in.” Reitzell also promoted skiers and snowboarders.
