Her parents were tennis enthusiasts, and since they couldn’t buy a proper child-size racket, they gave her a makeshift one.

Due to issues with her visa, Maria’s mother opted to stay in Sochi while she and her Father traveled to Bradenton to enroll in the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy. Nearly two years later, her mother joined them.

Maria Sharapova had an addition to her family when she welcomed a baby boy, Theodore, in July 2022. She announced the news of his arrival through her Instagram account. 

In the post, she called her baby boy the most beautiful, challenging, and rewarding gift for her little family. Maria also included the baby’s birth date using Roman numerals in her Instagram post.

Theodore is the first child of Sharapova and British businessman, Gikes. The couple got engaged in December 2020. 

In February, Sharapova announced the news of her first pregnancy with her businessman fiance. The tennis player shared a happy picture of herself on a sunny beach in the announcement post.

She is one of ten women worldwide to have won every significant singles title throughout a stellar Grand Slam career.

When Sharapova was 17 years old, she earned her first major victory at Wimbledon in 2004.

Likewise, she also won the U.S. Open in 2006, the Australian Open in 2008, the French Open in 2012, & the championship again in 2014.

In addition, she won the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
