At the beginning of the trial on September 28, William George Davis pleaded not guilty.

Yet pulmonologist and professor of internal medicine Dr. William Yarbrough testified that breathing air into the arteries of the brain damages the brain, which invariably results in death.

Yarbrough asserted that by studying brain scan images, he demonstrated that there was air in the victims’ brains’ vascular system.

On October 19, 2021, a jury found William George Davis responsible for all four counts of capital murder.

Notwithstanding the defense’s claims that Davis was being used as a scapegoat and that the patients’ deaths or injuries were brought on by the hospital’s treatment procedures or simple negligence, the decision was made.

On the other hand, the prosecution refuted such claims, saying that the hospital did not encounter such incidents even though they continued employing the same techniques after Davis was acquitted.

Jacob Putman, the district attorney for Smith County, stated, “I don’t think he feels regret. He has no sense of guilt or compassion for his victims.”

The trial’s sentencing phase got underway. The death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole will be the jury’s choice.

He cried only for himself during the phone call or in court. He received the death penalty on October 27, 2021, as the jury could not discover enough mitigating circumstances to prevent him from obtaining the death penalty.

Davis is incarcerated at the Allan B. Polunsky Unit in Polk County, Texas, after being found guilty of capital murder on October 27, 2021.
