Delia Dueas Smith, better known as Pepsi Paloma in the Philippines, was a Filipino-American dancer and Actress. Together with Sarsi Emmanuelle and Coca Nicolas, she was one of the famous Softdrinks Beauty debuted in the 1980s.

After acting in a few films, Paloma was embroiled in a widely known incident when she charged Joey de Leon, Ricardo “Richie D’Horsie,” and Vic Sotto with rape. Paloma and fellow Actress Guada Guarin were allegedly drugged, taken to a room at the Sulô Hotel in Quezon City, and raped.

Notwithstanding the suspects’ previous apologies, Tito Sotto has maintained his stance, denying any role in the whitewashing of the rape case, claiming that the controversy was a publicity ploy by Paloma’s Party.
Sotto stated that he was not a culprit in Paloma’s rape and denied using his position in government to influence court judgment. Before being chosen as a senator in 1992, Sotto served as vice mayor of Quezon City from 1988 to 1990.
In 2018, the older Sotto urged The Philippine Inquirer to delete published online information regarding the Pepsi Paloma Case harmful to his present status as a Senator.
Paloma had already tried suicide, and her mental health was claimed to have suffered due to her trauma. Several people were taken aback by her death, which sparked suspicion about its circumstances.

Paloma was 14 when a talent scout named Tita Ester introduced her to talent manager Rey dela Cruz for a future film career in 1980. With the release of Brown Emmanuelle in 1981, she made her cinematic debut.
With Coca Nicolas and Sarsi Emmanuelle, she was promoted as one of the so-called “soft drink” beauties under the stage name Pepsi Paloma.
