Dustin trained in Tae Kwon Do for four years but remained focused on wrestling until their family moved to Illinois when they were 12.
Similarly, Dustin attended Triopia High School in Illinois, where he played basketball and football, earning all-state honors in basketball.
He stepped in as a substitute for Manuel Quezada, a professional boxer, at the Road to GLORY USA Light Heavyweight (209 lbs.) The tournament was held in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as a last-minute addition.
Further, he received several Division I scholarship offers for both sports, but a severe knee injury during his senior year led to the withdrawal of many offers.
Despite this setback, Dustin studied business management and played football as a quarterback for two years at Culver-Stockton College before transferring to Quincy University.
Meanwhile, Darren trains at Robbins Mixed Martial Arts, where he has significantly improved his skills since joining. Interestingly, Darren did not receive formal training for his first five or six fights.
