She said she hates when people ask her about her ethnicity in an April 2009 Esquire interview.

She says that she is Dominican, Lebanese, Indian, Irish, and Jamaican, she continued, adding more pronouns.

But she hates going into all these when someone asks her about her ethnicity. So, she merely mentions that she is a Queen’s origins.

Zoe Saldana Religion and Parents 

Zoe Saldana was born in Passaic, New Jersey on June 19, 1978. Her parents were Puerto Rican Asalia Nazario and Dominican Aridio Saldana.

Nazario and her mother relocated to New York as little children to escape political unrest in the Dominican Republic.

In a Wired interview, Zoe revealed that she is Dominican and Puerto Rican.

She was raised bilingually in English and Spanish with her two sisters, Cisely and Mariel, with Spanish being their primary language at home. Most of her formative years were spent in Jackson Heights, Queens, of the Big City.

Their Father died in a vehicle crash when Saldana was nine years old. Her mother arranged for the three sisters to reside in the Dominican Republic with their late Father’s family.

So that she could afford to pay for the children’s private education, she kept working in New York.

The daughters’ stepfather, Dagoberto Galan, was married to widowed Asalia. They entirely regard him as their Father.

Saldana has said she considers herself to be black. “There is no one way to be black. I’m black, and I do the best I can.”

Saldaa developed a passion for dancing while living in the Dominican Republic. She studied various dance forms at the ECOS Espacio de Danza Academy, but her favorite is ballet.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, she admitted to quitting ballet, claiming that she didn’t “have the feet” and had too much ego and ambition to be satisfied with being a corps de ballet member.

Her early education was completed at Newtown High School in Queens after the family relocated back to New York City following her second year.

Zoe Saldana’s husband is Marco Perego Saldana. In March 2013, Saldana and Italian artist Marco Perego began dating. In June 2013, they were married in London.

Saldana claimed that after marriage in July 2015, Perego adopted her last name. While Marco adopted the name Marco Perego-Saldana, Zoe changed her name to Zoe Saldana-Perego. They’d have Perego-Saldana descendants.

Saldana and Perego have three sons: twins in November 2014 and a third in February 2017.

Saldana asserts that she and her husband’s employment of the three languages around their children will ensure their multilingualism.
