Throughout the 1990s, Heche’s star continued to rise with notable appearances in films like Walking and Talking, Donnie Brasco, and Six Days, Seven Nights.
She also impacted projects such as If These Walls Could Talk Two and the Broadway revival of the Twentieth Century.
Heche’s personal life was often in the spotlight, and she courageously shared her experiences in her memoir, Call Me Crazy.

Was Anne Heche Bipolar? Mental Health Update

She recounted undergoing various therapies, including Reichian body psychotherapy and guided LSD therapy, which helped her recover repressed memories of sexual abuse and confront the emotional aftermath of her traumatic past.
During a crisis following the filming of Donnie Brasco, Heche claimed to have experienced spiritual revelations, hearing God’s voice and identifying herself as “Celestia,” an incarnation of God and the Second Coming of Jesus.
This altered state lasted for several years and included experiences of glossolalia, automatic writing, clairvoyance, psychical healing abilities, and stigmata.
In August 2000, shortly after separating from Ellen DeGeneres, Heche embarked on a surreal journey. She drove to a rural area, walked miles without water, and sought refuge in a ranch house, wearing minimal clothing.
Her behavior, attributed to dehydration and ecstasy consumption, alarmed the homeowner, who contacted the authorities. Heche was subsequently taken to a psychiatric unit but released hours later.

Anne Heche decided to come forward and accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct, adding her voice to the growing chorus of women speaking out against the film producer.
Anne Heche made a bold claim during a revealing conversation on the Allegedly podcast in January 2018, accusing Harvey Weinstein of indecent exposure and coercing her into performing oral sex.
She further claimed that she was subsequently fired from an unspecified Miramax film due to rejecting Weinstein’s advances.
Heche’s decision to accuse Weinstein stemmed from her experiences of enduring multiple incidents of sexual harassment throughout her career.
Having survived childhood sexual abuse, Heche asserted that her past trauma had given her the strength to confront unwanted advances, including those made by Weinstein.
By speaking out, she aimed to shed light on the pervasive issue of sexual harassment within the entertainment industry and contribute to the broader movement of holding influential individuals accountable for their actions.
While a spokesman for Weinstein acknowledged a prior relationship between him and Heche, they vehemently denied all of her allegations.

Anne Heche Car Crash And Death Explained
On August 5, 2022, Anne Heche was involved in a series of motor vehicle collisions in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles, ultimately leading to a devastating crash that resulted in critical injuries and the destruction of a house.
The first collision occurred when Heche’s vehicle struck an apartment garage, causing minor damage. She then allegedly engaged in a hit-and-run, colliding with a Jaguar without stopping.
Finally, in the most severe crash, Heche’s vehicle struck a house, breaking through a wall and embedding itself 30 feet into the building.
The impact trapped Heche inside the vehicle, which caught Fire and quickly spread throughout the house. It took 65 minutes and the efforts of 59 firefighters to extinguish the blaze.
Firefighters faced significant challenges in accessing and extricating Heche, finally rescuing her after 45 minutes. Unfortunately, she had already suffered severe burns and smoke inhalation injuries.
Law enforcement officials initially reported that Heche acted erratically and under the influence during the crashes.
A preliminary blood analysis revealed the presence of cocaine and narcotics, including fentanyl.
However, further tests were needed to determine whether these substances were ingested before the incident or administered during her hospital treatment.
After months of investigation, the final autopsy results indicated that illicit substances did not impair Heche at the crash. An inactive metabolite of cocaine was found, suggesting prior use but not recent consumption.
Cannabinoids were detected in her urine, indicating previous usage. Fentanyl was also present, attributed to hospital treatment rather than pre-crash ingestion.
Heche was hospitalized and remained in critical condition, ultimately succumbing to an anoxic brain injury. She was kept on life support temporarily to assess organ viability for donation, to she expressed a wish.
After suitable organ recipients were identified, Anne Heche’s life support was peacefully withdrawn on August 14, 2022.
The medical examiner concluded that her passing was primarily due to inhalation and thermal injuries, with blunt trauma noted as a secondary contributing factor.
An honor walk was held in memory of Anne Heche’s organ donation, and her cremated remains were interred at Hollywood Forever Cemetery on May 14, 2023.
