Villamalia Polina Tu’ipulotu, who was set to get married this summer to her fiance, Beaux Tagaloa, lost her life in a tragic car accident at 23.

Villamalia Polina Tu’ipulotu, 23, was born in 2001 in San Mateo, California, to her mother, Luisa Tuipulotu, and her father, whose identity has been kept private.

Tragic Car Accident Claims the Life of Villamalia Polina Tu’ipulotu, Fiancé in Critical Condition

At 12:41 a.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2025, Villamalia Polina Tu’ipulotu and her fiance, Beauz Tagaloa, left a family gathering in Pittsburg. 

A speeding car crashed into their SUV near East Leland Road and Gladstone Drive.

Villamali passed away at the scene, while her fiance, Beaux Tagaloa, has been injured and is in critical condition at a hospital. They were set to get married this summer. 

The accident started with a high-speed purist on Highway 4, with California Highway Patrol chasing a stolen car. In a statement, the California Highway Patrol said, 

“A suspect armed with a stolen handgun operating a stolen gray Infiniti sedan was observed to be traveling at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour,”

Officers spotted the suspect’s car as it exited the freeway. They tried to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled on city streets, ending in a crash. 

The suspect survived and has been hospitalized. 

Villamalia’s family member Mele Tuipulotu organized a GoFundMe fundraising campaign, which has raised over $47,000 toward funeral costs so far

In a statement to KTVU, Pittsburg Mayor Jelani Killings said, 

“My heart and prayers go out to the families impacted by this tragic incident. My deepest condolences for their loss. This is an unfortunate and difficult situation for our community to process.”

The Contra Costa County DA’s office is investigating the accident, with assistance from the CHP and Pittsburg Police Department. 

Villamalia Polina Tu’ipulotu’s Fiancee Is a former FullBack At The California golden Bears

Villamalia Polina Tu’ipulotu’s fiance, Beaux Tagaloa, is a former redshirt junior fullback for the California Golden Bears, standing 6-foot tall and weighing 250 pounds. 

A native of San Francisco, CA, he played high school football at the prestigious De La Salle High School before starting his collegiate career at San Jose State University.

During his time with the Spartans in 2019 and 2020, Tagaloa was part of the 2020 Mountain West Conference Championship team, earning Academic All-Mountain West honors and a place on the President/Dean’s List. 

He later transferred to Cal, where he played from 2021 to 2023 and earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 2023

At Cal, he played in four games. In the 2023 season, he appeared in two games after missing the first five contests, playing against Oregon State and Utah. 

Following his playing career, Tagaloa transitioned into coaching, joining Diablo Valley College (DVC) as the Defensive Line Coach, Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Academic Success Center Coordinator.

  • Beaux Tagaloa transferred to Cal for his final three seasons of eligibility and earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 2023. 
  • Beaux’s family member, Veronica Tagaloa, attended Carondelet High School and later went to San Francisco State University.
