The Masked Singer is gaining quite a popularity. The show aired first on January 2, 2019, and features a celebrity panel of judges and a host to officiate the show.
Let’s get to know about the show; it’s the judges and the performers, shall we?
The Masked Singer | Origin & Concept
The show is the U.S. adaptation of the South-Korean show King of Masked Singer. Craig Plestis, an executive producer on the show, first came across this show during a visit to a Thai restaurant. All the customers were intently watching a singer dressed up in a kangaroo outfit.
After securing the American version’s rights, The Masked Singer has production under the Fox network and Fox Alternative Entertainment. In the show, celebrities appear in costumes, and in each episode, the pairing takes place against each other as a face-off battle.

Like any other show, a series of votes from the panel of judges and audience is considered. Likewise, the one with the fewer votes faces elimination. From the previous votes, the one with fewer votes cannot continue further. In the end, the loser has to reveal his identity.
The identity of the performers is possible to determine from pre-taped interviews given in distorted format. A single question from each panelist through constant speculation helps establish the identity, but sometimes it isn’t easy, and the singers ultimately disclose who they are.
The Panel
Blurred Lines singer Robin Thicke, tv personality Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Actor-Comedian Ken Jeong, and Pussy Cat Dolls Nicole Scherzinger are the judging panel. Similarly, Nick Cannon hosts the show.
Garnering a fair share of acclamation, the show bagged nominations in the MTV, Teen Choice, Primetime Emmy, and a People’s Choice Award. Nonetheless, critics had a mixed response. Some called it a crazy reality show, some called it weird and stupid, but the fans seem to love it. Let’s see how long this freaky new tv show fare in the modern-day.
