Shannon Howard James Pitts have arrested following a report of shots fired at Forsyth Tech earlier Thursday morning.
After a report of shots fired at Forsyth Tech early Thursday morning, Winston-Salem Police apprehended an 18-year-old.
Shannon Howard James Pitts, 18, of Winston-Salem, was found near the toilet in the Strickland Center, according to Police. More than 600 high school students gathered on the Forsyth Tech campus for a Focus event.

The Winston-Salem Police Department disclosed during a press conference at 5 pm that bullets were fired from a toilet on the second floor of the Strickland Building on campus. Officers discovered a man with a gunshot wound and took him to the hospital.
Shannon Howard James Pitts- Forsyth Tech Shooter Injured After He Shot Himself
On Thursday, an 18-year-old Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy student was wounded after shooting himself in hand on the Forsyth Tech Community College campus.
The Winston-Salem Police Department said on Twitter that a gunshot was under investigation at the main campus near Miller Street at 10 am.
Authorities later revealed that he was a Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy student who had shot himself. Investigators were seeking to determine if the shooting was accidental or purposeful, according to WSPD.

Shannon Howard James Pitts, according to Capt. Shelley Lovejoy was the student.
“According to the preliminary investigation, Mr. Pitts owned a pistol on campus, which resulted in what seems to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the hand,” Lovejoy stated. “Appropriate charges are being considered” for Pitts possessing the pistol on campus, according to the captain.
Winston-Salem According to Forsyth County Schools Administrator Tricia McManus, hundreds of high school students were on the Forsyth Tech campus on Thursday.
Some were on campus for a “focus day,” which investigated post-graduate prospects, while hundreds more were regular college students.

According to a public record release, Pitts was charged with two counts of possessing a firearm on educational grounds and one count of carrying a concealed pistol.
According to Police, the student was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and was later discharged from the hospital. A $25,000 security bond was issued to the pupil.
Authorities are unsure if the youngster did it on purpose or by mistake. The gunshot triggered a security threat on campus, prompting a lockdown and evacuation of students and faculty.
According to Police, there was no active shooter on campus. They also stated that there was no danger to the community or the suspect.
While in a severe scenario, Taylor did explain that law enforcement was handling everything in a controlled and safe manner and that he and other students were moved outside directly behind Police lines.
The event, according to Tricia McManus, superintendent of Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools, will impact children long after they return from spring break.
“And when they return on April 11th, we will have teams at each school,” McManus added. “We had students from 10 different schools here today.” Counselors and social workers will also be present, she said.
“Today was an excruciating day,” Forsyth Tech president Janet Spriggs said during a news conference. “But, as usual, we pulled together, following the plans we prepared, and took care of one other in a true Trailblazer manner.”
