Ronnie Coleman’s extraordinary rise to fame as a renowned powerlifter and bodybuilder, renowned for lifting the heaviest imaginable, came at a high cost that forever altered the course of his career and life.

The immense toll of Coleman’s rigorous training regimen took a devastating toll on his body, leaving a lasting impact on his physical health and mobility.

Multiple surgeries and procedures rendered the bodybuilding icon bound to a wheelchair, severely limiting his ability to move freely.

In 1996, Coleman suffered a critical injury during a grueling squatting routine, resulting in a dislocated disk.

Unfortunately, he didn’t seek immediate medical attention, forever changing the trajectory of his life.

The severity of his injuries extended beyond his spinal problem, encompassing his back, shoulder, hips, and neck, all deeply affected by the strain of heavy weightlifting.

Even after the diagnosis, Coleman’s persistent dedication to training exacerbated his condition, culminating in a herniated disk and a staggering total of 13 surgeries.

Throughout his medical journey, Coleman endured two hip replacement surgeries and numerous other treatments to alleviate the pain caused by his damaged intervertebral disks.

In 2018, he underwent a procedure that involved his intestines being temporarily removed, screws being inserted and removed from his back, and finally, his intestines being repositioned.

The following year, he endured his tenth surgery, aimed at fixing four broken screws from a previous operation. The financial burden of these surgeries alone amounted to a staggering $2 million.

Despite his physical and emotional challenges, Coleman consistently displayed unwavering determination. Even on Christmas Day, he ventured to the gym alone to continue working out.

However, in June 2020, he made a heartbreaking revelation that he may never regain the ability to walk again.

Coleman attributed part of his fate to the surgeon who performed his most recent procedure, believing that different surgical decisions could have potentially restored his mobility much earlier.
