Eduardo Xol, a designer known for his work on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” passed away more than one week after being stabbed.
A spokesperson for the Palm Springs Police said they discovered Eduardo Xol, 58, in an apartment on September 19, 2024, after he called requesting help.

Law enforcement officers said that he had significant injuries consistent with an assault. Later, he was transported to a local hospital and passed away after 10 days on September 20, 2024.
Richard Joseph Gonzales has been taken into custody on suspicion of attempted m*rder in the incident.
Police allege that later on the morning of the incident, Gonzales called police to say he had been assaulted the previous night.
After the investigation, police determined that Gonzales was at the scene of the incident and was likely the suspect.
Gonzales is being held without bail and is next due in court on December 18, 2024.
It is unclear whether Richard has entered a plea, and an attorney has yet to comment on this incident.

Eduardo Xol was born in Los Angeles on February 19, 1996, as the eldest son of Eduardo Torres Sr. and Mirna Torres.
He grew up in a close-knit Mexican-American family with two younger siblings, Monica Cajayon and Ernesto Torres.
Xol was helping his sister, Monica Cajayon, cope with lupus. She was diagnosed with lupus in 1998 after many years of not feeling well.
Cajayon is a part-time English teacher as a second language, whereas his brother Ernestor is an electrician.
His extended family, including aunts on his mother’s side, live in Los Angeles.
Xol left Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to focus on his family and to start his nonprofit educational foundation, the ALUMI (Alternative Learning Using Multiple Intelligences) Media Group.
His family has talked about the tragic loss of Eduardo. In a statement, they said,
“As his family, we know that his kindness has touched the lives of so many. We ask for that kindness returned now allowing our privacy to be respected as we process our grief. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made in Eduardo’s name to the Lupus Foundation of America as he spent so much of his life in the service of others.”
