Raymond Anthony Lewis Jr. is a former American professional football player who spent his 17-year NFL career as a middle linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens.
He was an All-American quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes in college.
He attended the University of Miami, where he was a two-time consensus All-American and received the Butkus Award as the nation’s best collegiate linebacker.

Nineteen years after the last Super Bowl in Atlanta, a terrible mystery about what transpired in the early morning hours following that epic game between the St. Louis Rams and Tennessee Titans persists.
In June 2000, a jury acquitted two of Lewis’ friends and former co-defendants in the murder trial of Lollar, 24, and Baker, 21.
Almost three years later, an attorney for Baker’s family filed a 46-page document in federal court in Georgia as part of the family’s civil complaint against Lewis, seeking wrongful death damages.
The document’s objective was to persuade a judge to reject Lewis’ bid to dismiss their lawsuit.
On the 16th page, it stated Lewis’ missing suit and the names of Lewis’ mother, his buddy Kwame King, and a woman who followed Lewis and sat next to him in the limousine. Jessica Larose Robertson of Houston was her name.
Families of both deaths had sued Lewis for monetary damages, which resulted in the discovery of evidence, including deposition testimony from Lewis, Robertson, and King in 2001 and 2002.
It also included records from Robertson’s Atlanta attorney and a draft copy of King’s legal expenses.

Lewis pled guilty to obstruction in a plea arrangement that lessened his murder allegation after initially being charged with murder.
The misdemeanor accusation arose from a false statement he made to Police when he failed to identify persons he knew in the limo that night.
Lewis also admits to urging the individuals from the limo to “shut the F-up.
Lewis consented to the terms of the transaction by testifying in the case against his friends and former co-defendants, Reginald Oakley and Joseph Sweeting.
According to other witness evidence at the time, the prosecution said Lewis’ bloodstained suit was thrown when Robertson and others drove from Lewis’ hotel that morning and stopped to drop a bag in a local fast food restaurant’s garbage.
What was spilled is unknown.
Before his trial in 2000, the prosecution, led by district attorney Paul Howard, who still holds that office in Atlanta, granted Robertson immunity.
In March 2000, as part of her agreement, Robertson handed up three clothes bags to an investigator.
In June 2000, Lewis testified that he had requested her to retain his clothing until he returned from Hawaii, where he had intended to attend the Pro Bowl.
He also claimed that he had left the suit in his hotel room that morning and had no reason not to return it.
However, the suit he was wearing that night was not among the clothing given by Robertson.
The acquitted co-defendant, Oakley, stated that his clothing from that night went missing when he had a shower in Lewis’ hotel suite shortly after the event.
