Butterworth’s association with the Carry On franchise commenced with “Carry On Cowboy” (1965), where he portrayed “Doc.”

Introduced to Peter Rogers, the series’ creator, by his friend Talbot Rothwell, the writer of “Carry On Cowboy” and its preceding four films, Butterworth emerged as the sixth most prolific actor within the Carry On ensemble.

Following Peter’s death, Brown remained unmarried and spent the remainder of her life in Hove until she passed away after a brief illness in May 2011 at the age of 87.

She was laid to rest beside her husband, Peter Butterworth, in Danehill Cemetery, East Sussex.
