Surinder Kaur Badal was Parkash’s wife. Kaur was born on June 26, 1938, in the village of Chak Fateh Singh Wala in the district of Bathinda to Harjoginder Singh and Bibi Umrao Kaur. She has three brothers and sisters.

Surinder Kaur died on November 13, 2011, at the PGIMER in Chandigarh, where she was treated for throat and pancreatic Cancer.
