In New Guinea, Michael Rockefeller vanished on November 17, 1961. He was on a mission to research the indigenous tribes and their way of life.
The 23-year-canoe old’s capsized while he was paddling up the Aruwimi River. He vanished without a trace.
The most prevalent theory regarding what happened to Rockefeller is that cannibals ate him.

In 1961, Rene Wassing, a Dutch anthropologist, and Michael Rockefeller embarked on yet another mission to New Guinea.
Michael Rockefeller and Rene Wassing boarded a 12-meter wooden canoe on November 17, 1961, and sailed away from land.
Their twin pontoon boat capsized there after being flooded by the waves. Their native guide swam to their assistance.
They were unable to speak with Michael Rockefeller or his buddy, though.
Wassing was finally located by a rescue team when the Rockefellers dispatched a search Party, but Michael was never found.
Did the Tribe eat Michael Rockefeller?
Michael was believed to be captured and stabbed by Asmat people, albeit the wound was not deadly.
They supposedly took him to the Jawor River, a secret brook, where they slaughtered and cooked him over a large Fire.
