The fact that he had eventually passed suddenly from complications after a suicide attempt over six months earlier, on May 26, 2010, was even more shocking.

He supposedly tried to commit suicide on May 14 but was discovered alive. First responders urgently assessed his condition.

In a blog post about his days in intensive care, Aaron Blaser, a close friend and colleague of Matt’s, stated, “There was a 24-hour vigil outside the waiting room, family, other chasers, business friends.”

Aaron continued, “I knew we were going to lose him. ” Matt Hughes’ suicide attempt was influenced by the fact that he struggled with depression and nobody were aware of it.

Matt died from the injuries he acquired after hanging himself after spending less than ten days in intensive care.

Matt received numerous heartfelt condolences from Discovery producers and friends, and family.

His family released a statement a few days after the news of his death was made public.

The statement stated that “Matt Hughes was genuinely a wonderful and caring person with a warm and loving soul, in the perception of his various relatives, friends, and coworkers.

The Hughes family went on to state that their intention was never to hide the truth about Matt’s passing to mislead the public.

But instead, to give family space to grieve privately and safeguard the several young children this tragedy has impacted.

They also highlighted the devastating effects of depression and noted that it is a treatable condition despite its huge incidence.

Matt Hughes From Storm Chasers Dies From Non-Chasing Injury

The forecaster’s passing was unexpectedly revealed on Wednesday night’s edition of the Discovery series. The TV star hanged himself, according to TMZ.com.

On May 14 in Kansas, local officers reportedly responded to a suicide call. According to the Police report, Hughes attempted to hang himself after drinking.

Following the episode “Dedication,” aired a week later, news broke that the TV star had died after suffering a terrible injury.

Hughes originally became interested in storms about two decades ago, the Wichita Eagle says, after seeing a tornado tear through Haysville in south Wichita.

During his 15 years of chasing tornadoes, the paper claimed he had seen 100 tornadoes; this experience helped him obtain the position on Discovery.
