A few years ago, Matt Baker’s mother, Janice Baker, was injured severely in a serious accident. 

Janice was hurt in a bizarre event on the farm in 2020 when a herd of sheep trampled her.

 Her leg was fractured, and his parents’ entire farm’s future was in danger.

Matt chose to assist on the farm while his mother was recovering. He quickly left their house and headed up the highway with his family.

By chance, Matt made a tiny change and suggested creating a show called “Our Land In The Dales” to center on the battle to save their farm.

It ended up being a success, so much so that a sequel was announced. The sequel, “Travels With Mum And Dad,” had Matt taking his parents on several day trips.

Janice is now back on her feet and helping out on the farm.

He was born on 23 December 1977 at Easington in County Durham to parents Janice and Mike Baker.

His dad ran a newsagent’s shop, and the whole family operated a small farm in the village.

Matt grew up with his sister, Samantha, and two other half-sisters. In his hometown, Bakers attended Easington Village School.

At age five, he developed an interest in dancing and later participated in gymnastics competitions.

When the host was fourteen years old, he received a diagnosis of anemia.

He was a rising gymnast and attended Belmont Comprehensive School at the time.

With his diagnosis, he was forced to give up his gymnastics career.
