Former top Putin defense official Yankina, 58, becomes the newest high-ranking figure to plunge to death in a mysterious fall.

She fell 160 ft to her death from a 16th-floor tower block window. A passerby at the House’s entrance discovered Yankina.

The high-ranking defense official was a crucial figure in funding Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine.

One of the Russian top defense officials has been found dead and is believed to have fallen 160ft after plunging from a high window in a tower block. 

A passerby discovered 58-year-old Marina Yankina at the entrance of a House on Zamshina Street, St Petersburg.

According to the Daily Mail, Yankina led the financial support department of the Ministry of Defence.

In short, she was the head of the finance department for the Western Military District.

Also, the Western Military District was closely involved in the dictator’s invasion.

Previously, Yankina worked in the Federal Tax Service. 

Before joining the Western Military region, the high-ranking official also served as St. Petersburg’s Deputy Chairman of the Property Relations Committee.

Now, the initial report suspects suicide, but often such cases present these facts prior main investigation.

Verified sources such as The Sun, the Russian Investigative Committee, and the Western Military District press ‘Fontanka,‘ confirmed Yankina’s death. However, the committee is still probing her mystery fall.

The concerned authorities early reports conflicted over whether the late official lived or worked in the St Petersburg building.

Also, officers discovered Yankina’s personal belongings on the 16th floor. So they assumed that she had fallen from there.

Also, Marina was considered friendly with senior officials in the Leningrad region.

Reportedly, the late senior officer was close to the former Ministry of Defence Chief of Staff, Mikhail Mokretsov. He was also Deputy Minister of Defence.

State official Mokretsov is a Russian businessman. In 2007, he took on as the Director of the Federal Taxation Service and ended his term in 2010.

Some news outlets, including Mash on Moika, claimed that Yankina had called her ex-husband and told him about her intention to kill herself.

According to the information, the late woman’s husband lived the block from the balcony where the incident took place. The outlet wrote:

A few minutes before the fall, the deceased Western Military District employee (Yankina) called her ex-husband.

She told him what her intention are and where she would leave things. The employee also asked to call the police. After few minutes, she was found dead. 

According to the latest data, the deceased woman had health problems but the motives needs to be clarified.

However, this version of Yankina’s death has no independent confirmation.

Moreover, the outlet wrote that the deceased high-ranking official’s career developed rapidly in five years.

She was promoted from an ordinary employee to the entire department’s head in a brief period.
