Lukas Gauthier, a 27-year-old man arrested for attempted bank robbery by Police officers in the Washington and East Berkeley streets area.

Lukas Gauthier, a resident of Cape Cod, has been charged with multiple offenses, including an attempted robbery of a bank in a shopping plaza in Massachusetts.

Boston Police reported that Gauthier was taken into custody by officers near Washington and East Berkeley streets on March 11, 2023, around 10 pm after intercepting a stolen vehicle.

Initially, Gauthier faced charges of receiving a stolen motor vehicle and driving with a revoked or suspended license.

Nevertheless, after a thorough investigation, he was charged with attempted robbery.

Lukas Gauthier -27-Year-Old Man Arrested For Attempted Bank Robbery

Boston Police have reported that Lukas Gauthier, a 27-year-old man, was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle and accused of attempting to rob a bank in Dorchester.

According to a statement from the Boston Police, after discovering that he was driving a reported stolen vehicle, Gauthier stopped near Washington and East Berkeley streets, where he was apprehended.

Initially, he faced charges of receiving a stolen motor vehicle and driving with a revoked or suspended license.

However, the Police stated that he is expected to face an additional charge of attempted bank robbery and will be arraigned at the Boston Municipal Court.

It is currently unknown whether Gauthier has obtained legal representation.

Similarly, an attempted robbery occurred at the Stop & Shop grocery store in the South Bay Plaza on Massachusetts Avenue in Boston. 

Gauthier allegedly passed a note to the teller, implying he was carrying a firearm, but no weapon was visible.

The teller declined his request, and Gauthier fled the scene. Additionally, no injuries were reported & the investigation is ongoing.

Gauthier is scheduled to appear in Boston Municipal Court for arraignment on Monday.

After his arrest, Gauthier faced charges of receiving a stolen motor vehicle and driving with a revoked or suspended license.

On the other hand, the Police stated that Gauthier was the individual who entered a bank located at 1100 Massachusetts Avenue in Dorchester, Boston, around 11 am on Saturday and presented a note claiming he was armed with a weapon.

When Did The Attempted Robbery Take Place?

On March 11, 2023, Saturday, at around 11 am, the Boston Police reported an attempted robbery at the Citizens Bank inside the Stop & Shop grocery store at South Bay Plaza on Massachusetts Avenue.

The suspect approached a worker at the bank and presented a note but did not brandish any weapon, according to the Police.

After being declined by the teller, the suspect fled the scene. Investigators were seen on video dusting for fingerprints while crime tape cordoned off the area where the bank is situated.

Following their investigation, the Police identified Lukas Gauthier as a suspect and arrested him on Saturday at around 10 pm in the vicinity of Washington and East Berkeley streets after intercepting a stolen vehicle.

At first, Gauthier was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle and driving with a revoked or suspended license.

However, following a comprehensive investigation, the Police charged him with attempted robbery.

Further, footage inside the store depicted the bank’s vicinity cordoned off with crime tape while investigators were dusting for fingerprints.
