Kevin Roby shared a cell with Lloyd when he was eventually transferred to Pelican Bay State Prison to complete serving his sentence. Roby was a Satan Worshipper.

Kevin Roby attacked Lloyd Avery II on September 4, 2005. He struck Lloyd in the head with something and then killed him by strangling him. Kevin then sacrificed a human using Lloyd’s body.

Guards discovered Lloyd’s disfigured body in the cell two days after the murder, lying over a pentagram he had drawn in his blood.

He later filed a lawsuit against Pelican Bay Prison for placing Lloyd in the same cell despite his request for them not to.

After strangling his cellmate Lloyd Avery, Roby received a second life sentence for a double homicide.

The autopsy report of Lloyd Avery II

At 36, Lloyd was assaulted and killed by his cellmate from Pelican Bay State Prison, Kevin Roby, and his body was discovered about 38 hours later in Crescent City, California.

According to the autopsy performed by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, his cause of death was blood aspiration, with physical force trauma as a contributing component.

The fact that Kevin and Lloyd Avery were first put in the same cell led Avery’s family to accuse the jail of incompetence in his death.

It should have been evident that placing them in the same cell would lead to confrontation, given their extreme differences in beliefs.

It was also mentioned that since every prisoner is meant to be tallied for each day, it shouldn’t have taken as long to find Lloyd’s body as it did.
