Lionel Brockman Richie Jr., 73, shortly Lionel Richie, was born in Tuskegee, Alabama, to Lionel Brockman Richie Sr. and Alberta R. Foster.

The Easy singer’s Father, Brockman Richie Sr., was a U.S. Army systems analyst. His mother, Alberta, was a principal and teacher.

Lionel received fame in the 1970s. He was the co-lead singer at Commodores, a Motown group.

He wrote and recorded several hit singles, such as Still, Easy, Three Times a Lady, and Sail On with the group. He left the group in 1980. 

In 1982, Richie started his solo career and launched a self-titled album. His first solo album sold a whopping 4 million copies worldwide. 

Some of his songs included You Are, Truly, and My Love. 

He launched his second album in 1983 titled Can’t Slow Down. The album sold 20 million copies worldwide.

Discussing Richie’s iconic hairstyle, he kept an Afro cut in the 1970s. 

Lionel maintained varying afros during his stint with the Commodores. His afro-cut varied from small and reserved to unruly and helmet.

In the 70s era, the hairstyle was more common, but now it looks a bit silly.

Coming in the 1980s, Richie maintained the Pharaoh-fro. The artist looked like a black version of John Oates, and it seemed the hairstyle gave him powers as he gave mega-hit singles in the 80s.

It looks like the All Night Long singer wants to tell people to focus on their careers than focusing on his hairstyle.

He has rarely spoken of his hair in media interviews. Looking at his hair, he doesn’t seem to have Alopecia or medical conditions that make him lose hair.

He seems all fine and happy with his hair at this age. The 73-year-old rocks a short hair look, and his hair color is black.
