KTVU’s journalist Alex Savidge used his official Facebook handle to write about his time with Jorge.

We have lost a wonderful man who brought so much joy and laughter to the world, and always brightened my day. Jorge Bustos was an incredibly talented photojournalist at KTVU for nearly 2 decades and someone who absolutely loved what he did. He was also a loving, devoted husband and father. I spent years waking up in the wee hours of the morning and hopping into a live truck with Jorge, heading off to wherever the news was happening. And if I was riding with Jorge, I knew it was going to be a good day. He was the best kind of partner, someone with a positive attitude who you could trust to have your back. And Jorge cared deeply about the people and the stories we were covering, which showed in his work.

Oakland resident Henry Lee posted some of the videos of working with Jorge on his social media handle and wrote,

Saddened by the passing of KTVU Fox 2 photojournalist Jorge Bustos. He was absolutely dedicated to his craft on the early-morning shift, always listening to scanners, rolling on his dash-cam while at the same responding across the bay to breaking news stories. And when he was done for the day, when most people just go home, Jorge would often call me up with a juicy tidbit he heard on some obscure police-radio channel and tell the assignment desk about some other story he thought we should cover. We all knew when Jorge was on a story, that he would always deliver. Rest easy, Jorge.

My dearest sister, Angela Bustos. Where do I begin. I am so sorry for the great loss that you and the kids have had to go through. There is truly no words to comfort you at this difficult time. I know, I too, lost the love of my life. Nothing ever really prepares you for this moment. I just wanted you to know, I’m praying for your family sis. There is nothing more important then for your kids to see you grasp hold of Jesus, because, he is the father to the fatherless. May God comfort and give you peace that only he knows how to. Si’i ofa lahi atu kiho’o fofonga. Rest in the loving arms of Jesus, dear Jorge.
