Katie Gallagher Parents are seeking justice after the death of their daughter, an independent New York-based Fashion Designer, has been ruled a homicide.
On July 24, 2022, the 35-year-old Katie’s body was found in her Lower East Side Apartment, which is located on Eldridge Street.
The dancers of N.Y.C. Ballet, Legendary Singer Lady Gaga, and Iconic Actor Laverne Cox have worn Gallagher’s designs.
According to the Police Report from last summer, NYPD responded to a 911 call at 9 pm. Upon immediately rushing to her apartment, they found her unconscious and unresponsive in her bedroom.

As per New York Police Department, the investigation concerning Fashion Designer Katie Gallagher’s death remains ongoing, and the authorities have made no arrests.
The autopsy report from N.Y.C. Chief Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the cause of Katie’s death was acute intoxication caused by the combined effects of p-fluoro-fentanyl, fentanyl, and ethanol.
The NYPD ruled Gallagher’s death as a homicide, and one of the investigators involved in her death case called the manner of her death “drug-facilitated theft.”
According to a statement given to N.B.C. News by Katie Gallagher Parents, the medical examiner’s determination of homicide confirms their belief that Katie was a victim of a crime.
The family stated that sharing this information will help them seek justice and cope with their grief more openly.
Detecting fentanyl in Gallagher’s homicide will likely heighten the already elevated concerns about the synthetic drug, responsible for two-thirds of the 100,000 fatal overdoses in the U.S. last year.
Gallagher established her fashion label in 2010, and by the time of her passing, she had showcased over 24 collections under the Katie Gallagher brand.
According to the obituary on her college’s website, Gallagher’s creative work had been recognized and highlighted in several renowned fashion magazines, including Vogue, The Cut, Elle, and Glamour.
Gallagher’s obituary likened her fondness for gloomy weather to Eeyore. She loved playing in the woods and was gentle with animals.

26 Similar Deaths In New York City Over The Past Year
According to sources within the Police department, Gallagher’s death shares similarities with 26 other deaths in the city over the past year that were linked to “drug-facilitated theft.”
The NYPD is investigating whether Gallagher was given a dangerous drug mixture by someone attempting to rob her. No further details have been provided.
Kenwood Allen, 33, an alleged member of a violent Manhattan Robbery Crew that targeted nightclub goers, was charged for the death of two men who were killed by a heavy dose of intoxicating drugs.
At a press briefing, the NYPD’s Chief of Detectives, James Essig, said that the robbers target their victims leaving bars, offer drugs, or force them until they pass out and steal their valuable jewelry, money, or phones.
Initially, the spate of “drug-facilitated theft” deaths was linked to men who often went to gay nightclubs. However, Essig stated that he mainly thinks this robbery crew is based solely on monetary gain.
As per a recent report by the New York Times, approximately 60 bars, restaurants, and galleries in the city are currently distributing fentanyl test kits to help people understand the drugs they are consuming.
Fentanyl-related theft deaths highlight the severity of the crisis, and lawmakers want Mexican fentanyl-trafficking cartels to be labeled terrorist organizations.
