Since then, Pesci has been on a weight loss journey that has seen him shed the extra pounds he gained for the canceled film role. He has reportedly lost up to 50 pounds, a significant achievement for someone in their early 80s.

It needs to be clarified what motivated Pesci to embark on this journey. Still, he likely did so for health reasons, as obesity can lead to various health problems, particularly as one gets older.

Pesci has always been private, so he has not shared many details about his weight loss journey. However, it is clear from recent photos and appearances that he has slimmed considerably. Pesci looks happier and healthier than ever, which is a testament to the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Did Joe Pesci gain weight for the movie?

Joe Pesci, the legendary Actor known for his roles in Goodfellas and Casino, gained around 30 pounds for a role worth $3 million in the movie Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father. However, the role was abruptly withdrawn, leaving Pesci infuriated enough to file a lawsuit against Fiore Films, the production Company behind the film.

The legal papers filed by Pesci claim that he had to sacrifice his dignity and personal health to gain weight for the role of Angelo Ruggiero, an associate of the late New York mob boss John Gotti Jr.

The papers allege that the production Company attempted to sideline him from the project and offered him a much smaller role than the one he was initially promised, with a fee reduced from $3 million to $1 million. Pesci argues that Fiore Films used his name and likeness to promote the film but had yet to honor their original deal.

He claims that the Company planned to concoct some pretext for terminating the contract to avoid paying him anything for the substantial publicity and buzz that was generated. In response to the lawsuit, Fiore Films’ producer, Mark Fiore, disputes Pesci’s claims.

Mark Fiore said that the Actor never signed a contract and walked away from the film when its original director withdrew. He also said Pesci refused to cooperate with the replacement director, Oscar-winner Barry Levinson. Fiore dismissed Pesci’s lawsuit as a joke, saying the Actor was not getting a penny from him.

Despite the legal battle, the movie Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father was eventually released in 2018, but without Pesci in the role of Angelo Ruggiero. The controversy surrounding Pesci’s weight gain and subsequent lawsuit further overshadowed the film’s release.

Is Joe Pesci Married?

Joseph Frank Pesci was married and divorced three times. Pesci’s first marriage was in January 1964, but it is unclear when it ended. His second marriage needs to be well-documented, but his third marriage was to Claudia Haro, a model and Actress from 1988 to 1992, with whom he had a daughter.
