Personally and politically, I knew Joe Formaggio. But today I am not able to defend myself as we all know the exuberant character of Formaggio. What happened (referring to the incident) is unacceptable. Personally, am very disturbed by such behavior.
We were colleagues as mayors and now as councilors, but I will not defend and justify such aggressive and reckless behavior of Formaggio. Every woman has her own limit of respect. Today, I am shocked because my colleague exceeded a woman’s limit.
When asked for clarification, Formaggio defended himself by saying:
Yes it is true that I pushed her down on the couch. She was quiet on the council room so, I took her place. Then as always I left a kiss on the cheek….butt Slaps rumors? False.
I apologize to my colleague if there’s any verbal miscommunication or misinterpreted gesture, and I reject any physical harassment accusation as reported by the press.
Formaggio has known the councilor of the League and has worked together for at least 14 years in politics. The two colleagues were first mayors and now regional councilors.
