When Police and ambulances arrived, they discovered him in a coma after being flung several meters by the force of the accident. His life was tragically cut short due to a motorbike accident.

Lapicus died as a consequence of injuries incurred in a car accident, according to MMA News. At the time of his death, he was just 27 years old.

The mixed martial arts (MMA) community was heartbroken to learn of the death of Iuri Lapicus, a 27-year-old fighter from Moldova, on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Lapicus perished in a horrible motorbike accident while living and training in Bali, Indonesia.

The specifics of Lapicus’ accident are unknown. However, it is thought he was riding his motorbike when he collided with a vehicle.

He was transferred to a local hospital but died due to his injuries. He was taken to the Niguarda hospital and treated for three days before succumbing to his injuries.

According to Milano Today, the former ONE Championship title contender was taken to a hospital and stayed in a coma until Monday, when he could not be woken.

Lapicus was born in Moldova and raised in Italy, where he began his professional MMA career with 14 straight victories. Lapicus had five fights in the ONE Championship welterweight and middleweight divisions, going 2-2.

He fought against MMA heavyweights like Christian Lee and UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez. In August 2022, he fought at ONE Fight Night against Zebaztian Kadestam.

Until conceding for the first time in 2020, the Moldovan-Italian fighter had competed in 16 professional MMA fights, winning 14 in a row.

Four victories were knockouts, the rest were submissions, and 13 came in the first round. He joined the ONE Championship in 2019, and his last fight was in August 2022 against Sweden’s Zebaztian Kadestam.

Eddie Alvarez, who fought Conor McGregor at UFC 205 and was originally victorious when Alvarez was disqualified for illegal punches to the back of Lapicus’ head, challenged him in 2021. The battle was eventually declared a no-contest.

According to Corriere della Sera, Lapicus is one of three Italian fighters who have competed in a worldwide top promotion, including Marvin Vettori in the UFC and Alessio Sakara in Bellator.
