After hiking in the San Gabriel mountains last week, actor Julian Sands is missing. 

Rescue teams had been looking for a lost hiker in the popular hiking and skiing region of Mt. Baldy’s Baldy Bowl.

The missing person has been identified as British actor Julian Sands, who was last seen trekking in the San Gabriel Mountains.

The 66 years old was reported lost on January 13 during rough weather in southern California in the Baldy Bowl area.

The police said avalanche risks forced ground rescue crews off the mountain last weekend, but a drone and helicopter searches are still being conducted.

The public is advised to avoid the area due to the high risk of avalanches.

He was reported missing on January 13 at around 19:30 local time, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office.

The search and rescue teams from the department “responded and launched a search, but were constrained by severe weather alerts and trail conditions.

However, search operations will continue using helicopters and drones when the weather allows.

Since 2020, Sands has called Los Angeles home.

In a 2018 interview, Julian discussed his obsession with mountain climbing and the necessity of keeping up with new experiences as he got older.

Moreover, he has remarked that he felt the happiest near a mountain crest on a beautiful, chilly morning.

Well, he is still in California, not in Las Vegas. In fact, “Leaving Las Vegas” is a movie he starred in back in the mid-1990s.

Considering its budget, the movie did well at the box office, earning $49.8 million.

In addition, its approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes was 91% based on 53 reviews, with an average score of 7.7/10.

Furthermore, the movie was also nominated for Best Director and Adapted Screenplay.

Julian Sands Personal Life

Julian Sands was born on January 4, 1958, in Otley, West Yorkshire, England. Her mother, Brenda, gave birth to him as the third boy out of five.

After getting divorced, Brenda raised him and his siblings all alone. He went to school in London at the Central School of Speech and Drama.

Similarly, the actor graduated from Lord Wandsworth College in Long Sutton, Hampshire.

Sands was wedded to British journalist Sarah Harvey from 1984 to 1987.

Together, the ex-couple had one son, Henry, born in 1985. After that, he married journalist Evgenia Citkowitz in 1990, and the two still live happily together.
