Is Amritpal Singh Alive? Death Hoax- What Happened To Him?
Amritpal Singh was the target of a malicious death hoax falsely claiming he had died.
However, this information is untrue, and he is alive and well as of March 2023. When the hoax was circulating, Singh was active on social media, confirming that he was not deceased.
Further, he has been the target of several rumors and misleading press reports because he is a divisive personality and a declared criminal.
In the past, there have been instances of death hoaxes related to Singh, which turned out to be untrue.
Is Amritpal Singh Arrested?
Officials have reported that Amritpal Singh, a Khalistani Leader, is currently evading the Punjab Police, who are searching to locate him.
Sources have claimed he was last seen escaping on a motorcycle in Jalandhar.
While the Police have arrested 78 members of his group, “Waris Punjab De,” several others have been detained for questioning.
The Police commissioner of Jalandhar, Kuldeep Singh Chahal, has stated that six to seven gunmen of Amritpal Singh have also been arrested.
In addition, his close aide, Daljeet Singh Kalsi, has been apprehended from Haryana’s Gurgaon.
After some of Amritpal Singh’s associates posted videos on social media claiming the Police were chasing them, authorities have heightened security and suspended internet and SMS services in the state to prevent the spread of fake news and rumors.
The internet suspension will continue until Monday noon, as per officials. Additionally, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had reportedly discussed a plan to arrest Amritpal Singh with Home Minister Amit Shah on March 2.
The center had sent additional forces to Punjab before the Police search.
Internet Services Suspended In Punjab As Police Detains Amritpal Singh
The Punjab government has suspended mobile internet and SMS services in the region until Monday noon while the search for the radical Sikh preacher and Khalistan sympathizer continues.
According to TheTimesofIndia, the internet and SMS services suspension lasted until Sunday noon. The state authorities have taken these measures as a precautionary step to prevent incitement to violence and disturbance of peace and public order.
The Police have stated that they intend to apprehend the fugitive preacher soon.
An official order issued on Sunday, exercising power under the India Telegraph Act 1885, directed the suspension of all mobile internet services and all dongle services and SMS services, except for voice calls, will be unavailable in the territorial jurisdiction of Punjab from noon on March 19 to 12:00 hours on March 20.
