On Sunday, April 30, 2023, a tragic incident occurred during an equestrian competition in Florida that resulted in the untimely death of a teenage rider, Hannah Serfass.
After the accident, Serfass was transported to the Venice campus of Sarasota Memorial Hospital via ambulance. Despite medical efforts, she was later pronounced dead.
The U.S. Equestrian Federation released a statement stating that Serfass suffered a fatal accident while competing in Venice, Florida.
When the unfortunate incident occurred, Serfass was aboard Quaxx 2, a 12-year-old horse.
During the routine, the horse stumbled and experienced a rotational fall, causing both Serfass and the horse to fall to the ground.
