The up-and-coming basketball player Fletcher Loyer has recently made the news after the victory against Ohio State. Fletcher Loyer brother is also creating ripples in the world of basketball. 

Fletcher went to Homestead High School, where he had an outstanding season.

He became the only player to have two seasons with 600 or more points in the school’s history. 

As a top-100 prospect, he steered Homestead High School to a 25-1 record and Indiana’s No. 1 ranking as a junior.

Before his junior year, he relocated to Fort Wayne from Clarkson, Michigan.

He is a four-star prospect and a player of the Purdue Boilermakers basketball team that comes in six-rank at the NCAA Big Ten Conference Men’s Basketball and 28th in the country.

The Boilermakers have advanced to the final four of the NCAA Tournament twice, but they have not achieved this feat since the 1931–32 squad.

Who Is Fletcher Loyer’s Brother Foster Loyer?

Foster Loyer is the 23-year-old senior point guard on the Davidson men’s basketball team in the 2022–23 season.

He played high school basketball at Michigan State for three years before thriving at Davidson for the last two years. Last season, the 6-0 guard averaged 16.1 points while shooting 43.8% 3-point.

The native of Clarkson, Michigan, was a driving force on Davidson’s NCAA tournament squad in 2021, and in some ways, he’s improved.

He is now shooting 41.9% from 3-point range and 88.1% from the foul line while averaging 5.6 assists and 21 points per game.

His numbers need to accurately reflect how important he is to this team.

The times when Loyer shares his wisdom with his younger teammates are more significant, which is how he earned the nickname “grandpa.”

After playing as a backup at Michigan State for three years, Loyer joined Davidson last season.

The 6-foot guard arrived at the school in the Charlotte region with a strong reputation because of being named Mr Basketball in Michigan in 2018.

The Davidson Wildcats men’s basketball team has developed into one of the best mid-major universities in the nation and is living up to that reputation.

Loyer said he was still considering his options for the future, although coaching was undoubtedly an alternative.

Fletcher Loyer was born on September 1, 2003, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to his father, John Loyer, and his mother, Kate Loyer. 

John is a scout with the Los Angeles Clippers and was the Detroit Pistons’ temporary head coach in 2014.

Meanwhile, Kate, who later worked as an assistant coach for the Purdue volleyball team, was a standout athlete at McCutcheon.

He is the grandson of Al McFarland, who, in 1964, played for the Boilermakers. It can be speculated that he followed in the footsteps of his grandfather. 

Both brothers are extremely close with their families and love spending time together whenever possible.

Fletcher Loyer Career 

Loyer concluded his high school career with 2,163 points (1,360 at Homestead and 803 at Clarkston High School in Michigan).

At Clarkson High School, he averaged 22 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists as a sophomore.

Likewise, Fletcher recorded 272 rebounds, 212 assists, and 113 steals in just 53 games during his final two seasons at Homestead.

After his senior year, he took first place in the High School 3-point Championship in New Orleans.

He rejected offers from Nebraska, Michigan, Notre Dame, Utah, and Missouri in favour of Purdue.

More than 30 players, including the first two picks overall in the NBA draft, have gone to the NBA from Purdue.

Furthermore, Loyer got the 2022 Indiana Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
