Shaher Abdulhak was a media-shy person who never granted interviews, and no photo of him was ever printed in the local press. Despite his low profile in the media, he held a great deal of political influence in Yemen.
Farouk Abdulhak’s mother, Rowayda Michael Besher, met Shaher Abdulhak in the 1980s. However, there is limited information available about his mother.
Who is Farouk Abdulhak?
Farouk Abdulhak is primarily known as the prime suspect in the murder of Norwegian student Martine Vik Magnussen on March 14, 2008. He was a former Regent’s Business School London student where he met Martine.
They were reportedly classmates, and they were believed to have a romantic relationship. Farouk immediately became a suspect in the case but had already left the UK and returned to Yemen, his home country.
The UK authorities tried deporting him, but Yemen refused to hand him over. The case caused a diplomatic row between the two countries, and it took several years for any progress to be made.
