Martine Vik Magnussen Murder Suspect Farouk Abdulhak, for the past eight years, has been aware that he is wanted for the rape and murder.
Martine Vik Magnussen was celebrating her test results in Mayfair in 2008 when she was brutally killed.
On March 16, 2008, she was discovered concealed behind a mound of rubble in the basement of an apartment building on Great Portland Street in London. She had been strangled to death, and additional exams indicated that she had been raped.

CCTV footage from the night in the issue shows her exiting the club at 2 am with Farouk Abdulhak, a fellow Regent’s Management School student. Abdulhak is the son of a Yemeni millionaire and Martine’s ex-boyfriend.

Farouk Abdulhak is being investigated for the rape and murder of Martine Vik Magnussen, a Norwegian student studying in London.
Magnussen was last seen alive with Abdulhak leaving a London nightclub in March 2008, and her death was recovered the next day in the basement of an apartment block.
Abdulhak, of Yemeni descent, went to Yemen shortly after Magnussen’s killing and has been on the run ever since.
Farouk Abdulhak, 35, is still in Yemen and has refused to return to the UK, where he is suspected of raping and murdering Martine Vik Magnussen, 23, after a night out at Mayfair’s Maddox nightclub in 2008.

In his first media appearance, he boasted that he wouldn’t be returning to Britain to stand prosecution ‘because I don’t enjoy the weather,’ and claimed that the court system would mistreat him because he was “the son of a rich Arab.”
The 35-year-old, whose Father Shaher Abdulhak was one of Yemen’s wealthiest and most prominent men, has only ever denied being guilty of murder through his lawyer.
But, he was traced down by Nawal Al-Maghafi for the BBC’s Murder in Mayfair investigation, with the Journalist exchanging a flurry of messages with Abdulhak before speaking with him on the phone.

For the past eight years, Abdulhak has been aware that he is wanted for the rape and murder of Magnussen, and extensive diplomatic efforts to return him to the UK have failed.
Abdulhak has not been apprehended for years, despite years of inquiry. A woman was arrested in connection with the case in March 2022, and it was reported that she was suspected of assisting Abdulhak in fleeing the country.
Nawal Al-Maghafi, a BBC Journalist with contacts and relatives in Yemen, tracked the fugitive’s phone number before approaching him on social media.
When she asked Abdulhak about his regrets, he responded, “I regret the awful tragedy that occurred.”
‘I’m sorry I came here [to Yemen]. Should have stayed and paid the piper’s bill.’
He claimed not to recall Ms. Magnussen’s dying night, calling it “all a blur,” but claimed to have flashbacks and feels “uncomfortable” whenever he smells a specific feminine scent.
He called her death a “sex accident gone bad” and said, “No one knows because I could hardly piece together what occurred.”
Abdulhak admitted to using cocaine that night and ‘couldn’t recall’ why he moved Ms. Magnussen’s corpse.
