Dr. Mark Midei, a former cardiologist from Maryland, was implicated in a medical controversy resulting in several lawsuits against him and the hospital where he worked.

Mark Midei, a beloved Maryland citizen, was killed in a horrific vehicle accident on April 5th. The accident happened on Highway 32 at Dorsey Run Road in Howard County. He did not commit suicide; he was killed in a car accident.

According to Jay Miller, who represents the patients, there might be many more victims. He plans to bring 45 more cases against Midei the following month, saying that the business gave superfluous stents to patients.
Stents are tiny implants that are used to clear congested arteries. According to him, they were all engaging in the same fraudulent behavior.
“They’ve been duped into thinking they need a stent.” This con was perpetuated on the general public for an extended period.
“The patient would eventually become aware that a stent was unnecessary for them,” Miller allegedly told the station.

Maryland’s Board of Physicians chastised Midei. The board describes Midei’s infractions as “repeated, significant, and inexcusable” in an 88-page ruling issued on Wednesday.
In 2009, a review indicated that more than 500 of his patients at St. Joseph Medical Center may have gotten unneeded stents—-tiny devices meant to unblock clogged arteries—-leaving some patients puzzled and unhappy.
“That simply doesn’t feel right,” one sufferer complained. “Dr. Midei indicated I had a 90% blockage, but whoever took the second reading said I was only 50% clogged, so I just responded, ‘Who’s right?'”
The Maryland Board of Physicians found in their lengthy report that “Dr. Midei implanted stents unnecessarily in four out of five patient cases it reviewed,” that “he falsified the extent of the blockage in those patients, saying it was higher than it was,” and that “he violated quality care standards.”
Midei, for his part, has consistently denied any misconduct. “I did what I would want for myself, for anyone in my family,” he said in October. “They were handled properly and with the utmost respect.”
Midei’s attorney, Stephen Snyder, tells WJZ’s media partner, The Baltimore Sun, that the decision is disappointing, adding, “Unfortunately, I think a wonderful doctor is being put out to pasture and that the community suffers as a result of him not being able to continue to save lives.”
