In the BBC One documentary, Living With Bulimia, which aired last night, the sportsman discussed the impact of bulimia on his life and met with other men receiving treatment for eating disorders.
The popular Top Gear host talked about how difficult it was for him to be open about his bulimia. Eating disorders, including bulimia, are frequently hidden and stigmatized, particularly among men.
Both Nightingale Hospital Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Helen Murphy and Counselling Psychologist Dr. Joanna Silver praised the documentary for shedding light on the devastating and dangerous illness.
Dr. Joanna Silver found the session was beneficial in drawing focus to some of the most challenging parts of bulimia.
According to the Mayo Clinic, people suffering from bulimia become obsessed with their weight and physical shape. Persons may be harshly critical or pick up on defects in themselves.
Because the disease is about body weight rather than food, it can be challenging to overcome. Freddie can identify with this, as he admits to thinking about his importance every 20 minutes.

Freddie Flintoff struggles with an eating disorder
The athlete rose to notoriety in the early 2000s due to his outstanding skill, but his troubles deepened behind closed doors.
In front of the cameras, Freddie developed a jack-the-lad, dangerous manner, but in truth, he felt pressure to keep his weight down, especially after joining the England cricket team.
The 43-year-old Actor is still learning and recovering from his tragedy. Freddie recalled becoming ill after some of the most significant victories in his professional cricket career, which had many highlights.
Freddie’s mental health and eating deteriorated, and he suffered from depression, which he now publicly addresses.
By 1998, Freddie had started to fill out and was aware that he had gained weight. He began to break into the England team during this period, but nothing could have prepared him for what would come.
Did Freddie Flintoff Get Injured
Flintoff returned to Lancashire for a few games before the West Indies tour of England, but he damaged his ankle again and was ruled out of the first Test, which began on May 17, 2007.
After another operation on the troublesome ankle, he missed the entire Test and one-day series against the West Indies. He was also ruled out of the subsequent Test series against India.
Flintoff returned to Lancashire in early 2008, but a side strain prevented him from playing in the home series against New Zealand.
After returning to county cricket for the first time in 17 years, he was called to the England squad for the second Test against South Africa.
