One station in Philadelphia, WPVI (Channel 6), aired the footage but didn’t show the bullet’s path. As the day passed, news editors had to choose how much of the disturbing video they wanted to show.

Many stations decided not to air the last moments of the suicide, and WPVI also chose not to show the gunshot again.

On the other hand, there are different ideas about why Dwyer took his own life.

Some believe he was innocent and couldn’t bear the thought of going to prison. Others think he is guilty and doesn’t want to face the consequences of his actions.

Budd Dwyer’s parents were Robert M. Dwyer and Alice Dwyer.

His father, Robert M. Dwyer, worked as a salesman, while his mother, Alice Dwyer, was a homemaker. They married in 1937 and had two children, Budd and his younger sister, Nancy.

Budd graduated from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, in 1961. He earned a degree called an A.B. in Political Science and Accounting.

At college, he was part of the Beta Chi chapter of the Theta Chi Fraternity. Later, in 1963, he completed a master’s degree in education. After that, he became a social studies teacher and football coach at Cambridge Springs High School.

Moving on, Dwyer married Joanne Dwyer until he passed away in 1987. His wife worked as a social worker and cared for their home and children.

She strongly supported her husband’s political career and was frequently by his side during campaign events. Sadly, as mentioned on IMDb, she passed away on June 12, 2009.
