Meet Anna Nicole Smith Daughter Dannielynn Birkhead

Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter, Dannielynn Birkhead, was born in The Bahamas on September 7, 2006. The circumstances surrounding her paternity became highly publicized and contentious after her mother’s death.

Two men claimed to be Dannielynn’s Father: Howard K. Stern, Smith’s former attorney and partner, and Larry Birkhead, an entertainment photographer. After Smith’s passing, a judge ordered DNA testing to determine Dannielynn’s biological Father.

Birkhead’s attorney requested an emergency DNA sample from Smith’s body, but the judge denied the request, preserving Smith’s body until February 20.

During this time, other individuals came forward, including Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt, Zsa Zsa Gabor’s husband, and Alexander Denk, a former bodyguard and chef for Smith, claiming they could be the Father.

Ultimately, in April 2007, a Bahamian judge ruled that DNA tests confirmed Birkhead as Dannielynn’s Father. Birkhead then applied for an amended birth certificate, officially recognizing him as the Father.

This paved the way for him to obtain a passport for Dannielynn and return to the United States with her. Stern did not contest the DNA results or the ruling, and Birkhead and Dannielynn began their life together in the United States.

Dannielynn has grown under the media’s watchful eye but has maintained a relatively low profile. Birkhead has taken on the role of raising her, ensuring her privacy and giving her a sense of normalcy.

While her early years were marked by legal battles and speculation surrounding her parentage, Dannielynn is now living a more private and stable life, away from the constant scrutiny that once surrounded her.

Disability: What Happened To Dannielynn Birkhead?

Dannielynn, the daughter of Anna Nicole Smith and Larry Birkhead, battled strabismus, a condition in which one of her eyes turned inward. Her Father had been aware of the issue for some time and had sought medical attention when Dannielynn was just a few months old.

Strabismus affected approximately 5% of children and impaired their ability to align both eyes simultaneously under normal conditions. Dannielynn has been prescribed an eye patch to address the condition she had to wear.

Birkhead was proactive in normalizing the use of the patch, even getting her a pirate doll to demonstrate that wearing patches was acceptable. However, as Dannielynn became more aware, she started pulling off the patch, making it challenging for Birkhead to ensure consistent usage.

While the surgery was an option for correcting strabismus, Birkhead expressed reluctance due to his personal experiences with losing loved ones during medical procedures. He remained determined to explore all other avenues before considering surgery as a last resort.

Regarding speculation about the potential impact of Anna Nicole Smith’s drug dependency during pregnancy on Dannielynn’s condition, Birkhead consulted with doctors who assured him it was doubtful.

Medical professionals stated that the exact cause of strabismus was not fully understood, but genetic factors were more likely contributors. Despite the challenges posed by her eye condition, Dannielynn received ongoing medical attention, support, and love from her Father.

Anna Nicole Smith Death Explained

On February 8, 2007, Anna Nicole Smith was discovered unresponsive in her hotel room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Her bodyguard’s wife, an emergency registered nurse, immediately performed CPR until the bodyguard arrived and took over.

The bodyguard called the hotel front desk, which contacted hotel security and dialed 911. Paramedics arrived and transported Smith to Memorial Regional Hospital, where she died at 2:49 pm.

A thorough investigation was conducted by Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper, along with Seminole Police and independent forensic experts. Perper determined that Smith’s cause of death was “combined drug intoxication,” with the sedative chloral hydrate as the primary component.

The autopsy revealed that no illegal drugs were present in her system. The toxicology report indicated an accidental drug overdose resulting from the interaction of chloral hydrate with multiple prescription drugs found in her body, including benzodiazepines such as Klonopin, Ativan, Serax, and Valium.

Other medications detected included Benadryl and Topamax, which potentially enhanced the sedative effects of the chloral hydrate and benzodiazepines.

Methadone, associated with her son’s death, was present in her system but was determined to have been ingested days before her demise and was not a contributing factor.

The autopsy report also noted the abscesses on Smith’s buttocks, likely from prior injections of vitamin B12 and human growth hormone. Contributory causes of death included viral enteritis and the impact of the abscesses. Tests for influenza A and B came back negative.

It was revealed that several drugs detected in Smith’s system had been prescribed to her partner, Howard K. Stern, rather than to Smith herself.

Additionally, some prescriptions were written under pseudonyms or for Smith’s friend and psychiatrist, Dr. Khristine Eroshevich, with all the prescriptions being issued by Dr. Eroshevich.

Smith’s funeral took place in the Bahamas on March 2, 2007. Her untimely death marked the end of a tumultuous and highly publicized life, leaving behind questions and speculation surrounding the circumstances and contributing factors leading to her tragic overdose.
