Mr. Baldwin was practicing with a gun when it went off, killing the film’s cinematographer. The armorer in charge of the weapons on set also faces manslaughter charges.
Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza led the initial investigation into Hutchins’ death, describing “a degree of carelessness” on the film set.

“Law enforcement reports revealed no convincing evidence that the pistol was purposefully loaded with live ammo,” according to the summary of the postmortem examination into Hutchins’ death, which New Mexico’s chief medical investigator legally signed.

According to the report, there was no reason for Mr. Baldwin to think there was a live bullet in the rifle or elsewhere on the set.
