Africa’s Next Top Model winner, Aamito Lagum, was born in 1992, which means she is 27 years old as of now. The Ugandan model celebrates her birthday every year on the third of December. Also, Lagum was born under the sun sign of Sagittarius.
Similarly, hailing from Uganda, Lagum stands at the height of 5 feet 11 inches(181 cm). Unfortunately, her weight as of now is still a mystery to the general public.

Early Life and Education
Aamito Lagum, born as Aamito Stacie Lagum, was raised by her single mother, Sidonia Ayaa. She grew up in the outskirts of Kampala, Uganda. Is she an only child or not? These questions are yet to be answered.
Likewise, Lagum, with her mother, relocated to Kitgum to her grandparents after her mother lost the job. But she moved back to Kampala to continue her studies in St. Jude Primary School.
From there, she went to Katikamu Seventh Day Adventist Senior Secondary School and later enrolled in St. Lawrence High School.
However, in her younger days, Lagum was often teased for her tall and lanky body. Instead of getting demotivated, she used the physical attributes to her benefit and gave a shot at modeling.
Professional Career: Ugandan Model and Beginning
As mentioned above, Lagum never planned to be a model in the first place. Initially, the young model was vying to be a lawyer and studied hard for it. However, Lagum changed her mind after one of her friends suggested to try modeling.
Since Lagum had the height and body to be a model, she was soon hired. And at the age of sixteen, Aamito officially commenced her journey in the modeling world. And luckily, her first gig happened to be in Ugandan Fashion Week, where the beautiful Aamito walked for Gloria Wavamunno’s GW Collection.
Despite being her first time on the runway, Lagum carried herself with poise and strutted her best. Then in 2012, Aamito met designer Adele Dejak who took her to Kenya for a photoshoot.

In 2013, Aamito Lagum took part in the African version of America’s Next Top Model. She soon made into the top twelve of the show after quickly gaining attention from the judges.
Needless to say, Aamito began outperforming her peers in the show, winning several photos, including the editorial spread for South Africa Elle, for having the best picture in week 9.
Ultimately, Lagum grabbed the final spot of the show with a 1-year modeling contract with DNA Model Management; product endorsements deals with P&G, Etisalat, Snapp, and Verve International.
Moreover, Lagum has also declared the ambassador for South African Tourism for a year and won the cash prize of USD 50,000.
Rise to Prominence- HEROES Model
Soon after the win, Lagum signed with Boss Model Management in South Africa. She even featured in an editorial of Marie Claire South Africa in August 2014. Later in 2014, Lagum signed with DNA Models and moved to New York City.
Similarly, within a year, Lagum debuted in the F/W 2015 season, where she walked for designer brands like Marc, Giles, J. Mendel, Rag & Bone, Paul Smith, Bottega Veneta, Lacoste, and few others.
Not to mention, Aamito opened the Balenciaga in Paris, making her the first model of color to do so. The Ugandan model then went on and bagged other shows like Lanvin, Dries van Noten, H&M, Hermes, among many.
By the end of the season, Aamito made it to the ‘Top Newcomers list’ of model.com and style.com. With her rise to the international fashion scene, Lagum has posed for magazines like i-D, Love, W, V, Harper’s Bazaar(USA), Elle, L’Officiel, Teen Vogue, Allure and so many other.
However, those were just the stepping stone for the young Aamito. Favored by many designers, Lagum has appeared in the lookbooks for Hugo Boss, Area, Narciso Rodriguez, Nordstrom, Acne Studios, and Kenzo, to name few.
Similarly, the attractive model was also shot by David Sims for the Marc Jacobs advertising campaign. As of now, Aamito Lagum is under the management of HEROES Model Management, IMG Paris, Women Management Milan, Uno Models, and M4 Models.

Since winning the season one of Africa’s Next Top Model, Aamito has won the hearts of many, including prominent designers. Her life took a turn for good after appearing in New York as she continues slaying in the fashion industry.
