36 Years Old Female Teacher Arrested Adelaide For Child Sex Offenses In 2021

In April 2021, former Underdale High School teacher Natalie Linda Zuccon, then 36, was taken into custody on charges of making a child amenable to sexual activity.

The charges pertain to incidents that were said to have occurred in Grange six years prior.

The Adelaide Magistrates Court had ordered her release on bail, with a scheduled appearance date of June 16.

SAPOL’s alert of a 36-year-old female teacher’s arrest on charges of child sexual offenses at a metropolitan school has shaken the education community.

The department added that parents were being informed in accordance with Debelle protocols, and the teacher’s employment had been suspended.

Due to the submission of a medical certificate, the defendant did not attend the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 1 September 2021 and was granted a second excuse.

Former Supreme Court Justice Bruce Debelle conducted the Debelle Inquiry in 2013 following the mishandling of a school sexual assault case that left parents uninformed for almost two years.

The 281-page report made 43 recommendations to enhance reporting and response protocols for sexual assault incidents in schools.

After facing child sex offense charges for nearly five months, Natalie Linda Zuccon, a former high school teacher, expressed her relief in November 2021 after the charges were dropped, as she left court.

While making a brief appearance at the Adelaide Magistrates Court, the former Underdale High School teacher was informed by the prosecution that the matter was being dropped, according to Chief Magistrate Mary-Louise Hribal.

Outside the court, Ms. Zuccon remained silent and did not comment to the media. Her defense lawyer, Craig Caldicott, however, spoke on her behalf.

Speaking to the press, Craig Caldicott, the defense lawyer of Natalie Linda Zuccon, conveyed his client’s “very relieved” reaction to the outcome, which he believed was “the appropriate result.

Craig Caldicott, the defense lawyer for Natalie Linda Zuccon, stated that the court process had been a “terrible” experience for his client, who even gave birth to a child during the proceedings.

While it was uncertain whether Ms. Zuccon wanted to return to teaching, her defense lawyer Craig Caldicott suggested that she be reinstated.

According to him, she should have been reinstated because she had done nothing wrong.
