Usha Chilukuri, a wife of JD Vance was born to her Indian parents, Radhakrishna Chilukuri, a mechanical engineer, and Laxmi Chilukuri, a professor. 

She is an accomplished American lawyer who graduated with shining grades from Yale University with a degree in history.

Usha Chilukuri was born and raised in San Diego, however, her parents hailed from Andhra Pradesh, India.

Moreover, her father, Chilukuri Radhakrishna, had deep roots in India since he first pursued his education and practice before leaving for the United States. 

Mr Radhakrishna also studied mechanical engineering at IIT Madras, a highly regarded institution based in Chennai, India. 

Later, he immigrated to the U.S., where he finally settled and raised his family, providing a sound academic and cultural environment. 

Similarly, the lawyer stays connected with India through her father’s family, particularly her paternal grandmother, Chilukuri Santhamma. 

Additionally, her paternal grandmother was an eminent academician in Visakhapatnam, having retired as a professor in physics from Andhra University.

She shared in an interview about her parents saying,

I grew up in a religious household. My parents are Hindu, and that was one of the things that made them such good parents, that makes them really very good people.

Also, the youngest first lady of the USA has a mom who is the Provost of Sixth College at the University of California, San Diego. 

A marine molecular biologist and biochemist by training, she is deeply committed to student well-being and academic success. 

Most recently, Mrs Chilukuri oversaw the undergraduate Microbiology Teaching Labs, contributing to enhancing science education.

At USCD, the judge’s mother is part of the team working on the Long-Range Development Plan, which aims to transform the campus into an inspiring place for students.
