Sun Valley High serves students in grades 9 through 12, located between Monroe and Indian Trail.
Sun Valley High School offers a curriculum that includes dual enrollment, vocational and technical education, honors, advanced placement, and college preparation.
Additionally, they provide the Aerospace Academy, where students can study aerospace and avionics and get licensed to operate drones.
Recently, 28-year-old Jalen Witherspoon is charged with sexual misconduct with a child. Afterward, he was removed from his position as a Sun Valley High School teacher.
Detectives accuse Witherspoon of two counts of statutory sexual crime, two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a student, and three counts of engaging in indecent acts with a minor.

Sun Valley Teacher Arrested: Jalen Witherspoon Accused Of Sexual Misconduct With An Underage Student
According to a news release issued Wednesday by the Union County Sheriff’s Office, a former teaching assistant at Sun Valley High School in Monroe was detained on suspicion of sexual misconduct with a minor.
The investigation began early this month when Witherspoon was “accused of sexual misconduct with an underage minor and was removed from his position at the school,” the sheriff’s office said.
He is charged with two counts of a statutory sexual offense, two counts of sexual activity with a student and three counts of indecent liberties with a child.
According to deputies, the inquiry started in early February after Witherspoon was accused of sexual misconduct with a minor and fired from his high school employment.
Not to mention, Sheriff Eddie Cathey stated, “The Union County Sheriff’s Office started our investigation into this situation the moment we were alerted of the charges being made by the victim.
Additionally, the Union County Public School system promptly removed the defendant from his position of power, and we will continue our investigation until all leads have been followed up on.

Jalen Witherspoon Was Removed From His Position As A Sun Valley High School Teacher
Jalen Witherspoon is currently trending in the media after the news of his being charged with sexual misconduct with a child. He was removed from Sun Valley High School around his arrest.
Sun Valley High School provides the Fire Safety Academy, where students can gain a public safety certification while learning the fundamentals of Fire safety.
Witherspoon is accused of engaging in sexual behavior with two students, two counts of statutory sexual crime, and three counts of engaging in indecent acts with children. He was arrested on February 15, 2023.
In the Union County Jail, Witherspoon is now being investigated. His bail amount is still unknown.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office launched its investigation into this case as soon as it learned of the victim’s allegations, “Sheriff of Union County Eddie Cathey said.
Similarly, the Union County Public School system promptly removed the defendant from his position of authority, and we will keep looking for clues until we find them.
On the other hand, the principal of Sun Valley High School said that students would have counselors on Thursday and Friday in a letter to parents.
