Sameer Khakhar was a film and television actor in Bollywood. Khakhar’s notable TV serial roles include the drunken character Khopdi from the landmark 1986 TV serial Nukkad, directed by Kundan Shah and Saeed Akhtar Mirza.
Sameer Khakhar’s career extended over four decades. His roles in the TV programs ‘Nukkad’ and ‘Circus’ catapulted him to popularity. He was also featured in ‘Shrimaan Shrimati’ and ‘Adaalat.’
He also had key roles in films like ‘Hasee Toh Phasee,’ ‘Jai Ho,’ and ‘Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi.’ He was most recently seen in the OTT series Farzi,’ starring Shahid Kapoor. (ANI)

Sameer Khakhar, a veteran Actor, died on March 15 in Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]. He was 71.
The news of the Actor’s demise was confirmed by his brother Ganesh. He told him Sameer passed away on Wednesday due to multiple organ failures.
“He had some respiratory issues yesterday morning, so we called the doctor, and he requested to be admitted, so we brought him to the hospital where he was put into the intensive care unit, and he then had multiple organ failures and passed away today 4.30 am,” Ganesh explained.

After learning about the unfortunate news, filmmaker Hansal Mehta paid a heartfelt tribute.
“I was given the moniker Khopdi in college for whatever reason because of his well-known Nukkad persona. My childhood buddies still know me as Khopdi. So I believe it’s time to say goodbye to the original. I’ll miss you, Sameer Khakhar. I appreciate the memories, “He composed.
According to PTI, the final rites will occur at 10.30 am at a crematorium in Borivali. Some of Sameer’s best works include Shrimaan Shrimati and Nukkad.
He also made a mark in films such as Parinda, Salman Khan-starrer Jai Ho, Hasee Toh Phasee led by Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra, Sudhir Mishra’s Serious Men and Vikas Bahl’s web-series Sunflower.

Sameer Khakhar was an Indian Actor who worked predominantly in the Hindi film industry. He was best known for his role as Khopdi in DD National’s 1986 TV show ‘Nukkad.’
He started his acting career in the 80s. He had performed in several theatres before making his television and film debuts.
He made his television debut with the series “Nukkad,” which was telecast on Doordarshan. In the serial, he played the character “Khopdi,” also considered his most famous role.
In 1987, he performed a Kannada film, “Pushpaka Vimana,” with Kamal Haasan, Ramya Krishnan, Amala Akkineni, Farida Jalal, and others. It was a silent (no spoken) film, and Sameer Khakhar received a Khiopgreat award for his performance.
Aside from Nukkad, he has been in several television series, including Manoranjan (1987), Circus (1989), Naya Nukkad (1993), and Adaalat (1994). (2013).
