On Friday night, a Seward lady was discovered dead in the ocean near the boat she was working on Kodiak Island.
Rubye Blake, 33, was discovered in Uganik Bay by members of a hunting outfitter boat, according to Alaska State Troopers. According to authorities, Blake was a crew member aboard the 40-foot-long fishing boat F/V Enchantress, which was anchored offshore in a secluded region of the bay.

Denali has won three straight junior girls’ Mount Marathon races, with Rubye finishing second in 2007.

Rubye Blake Death: Seward Woman Found Dead Near Boat
Rubye’s life was sadly cut short on May 5, 2023, when she was discovered dead beside a boat in Uganik Bay. A suitable Samaritan vessel’s captain discovered the body and quickly reported the occurrence.
Blake was the only adult on the boat when she died. According to troopers, her family has been alerted, and her corpse has been sent to the state medical examiner’s office in Anchorage for inspection.
They were dispatched from Kodiak after getting the word around 10:45 pm Friday that a crew member for a hunting outfitter on the boat had been discovered deceased. There was little information known concerning Blake’s death at the time. According to troopers, no foul play is suspected.
