In July 2019, Rana Sanaullah was apprehended near the Ravi Toll Plaza by the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) while traveling from Faisalabad to Lahore.

A case was filed against Sanaullah under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, carrying severe penalties, including death or up to 14 years in jail, along with a substantial fine.

The allegations stated that Sanaullah was involved in drug trafficking and was transporting heroin to Lahore based on information received by the ANF.

Despite facing two rejections for bail, Sanaullah was granted liberty by the Lahore High Court on December 24, 2019.

On December 10, 2022, Sanaullah claimed that the case against him was fabricated, urging the court to dismiss the charges due to discrepancies between witness testimonies and camera footage.

During the final hearing, the ANF officials dismissed the accusations against Sanaullah, asserting their falseness.
