Stephanie Melgoza DUI: Received Fourteen Years Of Jail Time

It is uncertain what happens next; for instance, you can literally die when walking on the road. As ironic as it sounds, there have been many cases of drunk driving, and it doesn’t seem to stop anytime soon.

No one could have expected Paul and Andrea to be struck dead by a vehicle while on a walk. The incident couldn’t have shocked anyone more as the lady behind the wheels was heavily drunk and had a blood-alcohol level over three times the legal limit.

Stephanie pleaded guilty to four felonies, including two counts of aggravated DUI death. As such, she received fourteen years of jail time for reckless driving and aggravated DUI.

The 24-year-old Illinois woman was already in trouble with the law, but it was her actions that caused heavy criticism from the netizens. After the car accident, cops tried to detain Melgoza. However, she was so intoxicated that she struggled to follow cops’ directions and was seen giggling during a sobriety test.

In addition, the lady told police that she had consumed three vodkas before getting behind the wheel. Following the medical examination, she danced and demanded asked to have her car back. Even the cop was shocked and reminded her of the consequences of her actions.

The footage from the scene of the crash went viral online, and many criticized Stephanie for her nonchalant attitude toward the fact that she caused two people’s deaths. It got so bad that Stephanie Melgoza’s father, Patrick O’Brian, came forward to slam the trolls.

In a lengthy FB post, Patrick shared how he and the family were sorry for their daughter’s actions that led to Paul and Andrea’s demise. However, he mentioned how netizens were harassing all of them, including Stephanie’s brother, who had no part in the incident.

O’Brian called the trolls out for defaming their character by posting pictures and writing about the family. He shared,

Our daughter did a horrible thing and will pay for it for the next 14 years of her life. The rest of my family did nothing.

This harassment has to stop.

Many people sympathized with the Melgoza family and shared how a person’s sin can’t be subjected to those uninvolved. The family is already grieving as they are, and adding malicious comments further hurts them.

However, this is the cruel reality of social media, as netizens have the power to either increase or destroy someone’s reputation. Hopefully, people will stop blaming Stephanie’s family for her actions and stop harassing them.
