Commonly known by geeks as Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek, fans want to get updates about Patrick Stewart Illness, following his heart surgery in 2019.
After three years, his fans are still curious and, at the same time, worried about his health.
In an essay, Sir Patrick strongly argued that there should be an allowance for assisted Suicide for people struggling with a terminal illness in the United States.
Patrick Stewart Heart Disease Diagnosis: How Is He Doing Now?
It was the year 2019 when Patrick Stewart got a call from his cardiologist after his annual physical checkup.
He said he was diagnosed with a heart disease called CAD (Coronary Artery Disease).
It is a type of heart disease where the delivery of oxygen-rich blood from the arteries to the heart gets obstructed.
Although it is one of the most common types of heart disease in the United States, it is still fatal, and Patrick’s cardiologist wanted him to undergo surgery as soon as possible.
On his cardiologist’s call, Patrick got emergency heart surgery which removed an 85% blockage, and a stent tube was fitted to prevent clogging up arteries.
Patrick referred to the process of his surgery as “dramatic,” but then he added that his surgery reminded him that he is not immortal.
As of January 2023, he seems to be doing very well physically and mentally.
Additionally, Stewart is starring in the Season Three of Star Trek: Picard, which will premier on February 16, 2023.
On the note of Patrick Stewart’s illness update, he has to see his doctors twice a year, where they perform special tests, including an Aniogram, to check his blood vessels.
On Sunday Times, Stewart said that the bi-annual visit to the doctor is “always scary,” and the whole process has helped him think about what his perfect death would be like.

Patrick Stewart Illness Update: He Promotes Assisted Suicide
In an essay for The Daily Mail, Patrick Stewart had a strong take on “Assisted Suicide.”
He believes that people suffering from terminal illnesses should be allowed to end their lives on their terms.
Stewart talked about the tragic death of one of his close friend’s wife, who took her own life after years of pain from terminal Cancer.
Patrick added that this incident clarified his thoughts on assisted Suicide and mentioned that if he were to suffer from any terminal illness, he would choose death over the continuation of suffering.
Physician-Assisted Suicide is only legal in about ten jurisdictions in the United States, and euthanasia remains illegal throughout the nation.
Many hospitals and health institutions are corrupt in the States, and they do not allow last-stage patients for physician-assisted Suicide in-order-to drain every penny from their insurance coverage or loans.
Although money is the last thing to worry about for Patrick, he believes the trauma of managing money above suffering from a terminal illness is too cruel for the family of patients on their deathbeds.
Thus, he firmly believes that assisted Suicide should be legal in the United States.
With strong emotions, he mentioned that his friend’s wife would’ve quietly slipped away in his friend’s arms if assisted Suicide had been legal.
