She had been diagnosed with cancer in 2012, something she had kept private at the time. 

 

Looking back on her journey, the FOX News show host says;

“In 2012, I was diagnosed with cancer. I didn’t talk about it. You didn’t know about it. I just did my show every weekend.”

Despite the chemotherapy, she did not stop hosting her show, saying she worked right through her treatments, often without eyebrows, eyelashes, or a wig. 

Aside from her battle, Pirro felt great personal pain in her mother’s long fight with pancreatic cancer, which ended when she died at 90 in 2019. 

The host expressed;

As the chemotherapy treatments progressed, I was on air talking to you without my eyebrows, eyelashes and wearing a wig.

Furthermore, the news reporter said that her mom was her “muse” and “hero” who played a big role in what she values and in building the tough person she has become.

As for treatment, the co-host of The Five used nuclear imaging technology to discover her illness then she underwent chemotherapy and has been cancer-free since then. 

She credits her cancer doctor, who advised her to take care of her health, including getting vaccinated during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

 

The anchor revealed on Fox talk show The Five;

I’m gonna say this openly. I had COVID, and my cancer doctor I had cancer he said to me you’ve got to get the vaccine. You’ve got to get both of them. So, I did. I did what he told me to do.

Though her first diagnosis was private, the former prosecutor’s openness in later years has encouraged others who have similarly suffered. 

Today, Pirro is in good health and still active on FOX News. Additionally, she shared a GoFundMe link on her Instagram to help her family friend, Jenna, raise money for cancer patients.
